چکیده

Radio frequency identification (RFID) is an upcoming technology with a large potential, but it also introduces a number of threats. Ownership transfer has been introduced to mitigate the risks which are caused by changes in ownership of RFID tags. We present formal definitions for ownership and ownership transfer in RFID systems and their secure variants. These definitions can be used to verify the correctness of ownership transfer protocols. We apply our definitions to existing RFID protocols, exhibiting attacks on desynchronisation resistance, secure ownership, exclusive ownership and secure transfer. We design an ownership transfer protocol using public-key cryptography which satisfies all our requirements. We also design a second protocol using shared-key cryptography which has led to an interesting observation concerning exclusivity of ownership.

A Scalable RFID Authentication Protocol Supporting Ownership Transfer and Controlled Delegation

RFID systems allow fast and automatic identification of RFID tags through a wireless channel. Information on product items like name, model, purpose, expiration date, etc., can be easily stored and retrieved from RFID tags attached to items. That is why, in the near future, RFID tags can be an active part of our everyday life when interacting with items around us. Frequently, such items may cha...

A secure ownership transfer protocol using EPCglobal Gen-2 RFID

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a relatively new technology. In recent years, it has been shown to be convenient and feasible in many applications. However, there are security issues which need to be addressed. Due to the wireless transmission of the RFID system, malicious people can gain the information in the RFID tags, and the user’s privacy is invaded. Although there have been many...

Secure RFID Ownership Transfer Protocols

An RFID tag could change hands many times during its lifetime. In a retail chain, the ownership of the tag is instituted by the supplier who initially owns the tag. In the view of a buyer, the validity of the current tag ownership and the originality of supplier are most important. In typical RFID ownership transfer protocols, the knowledge of the tag's authentication key proves the ownership. ...

Practical RFID ownership transfer scheme

When an RFID tag changes hand, it is not as simply as handing over the tag secret to the new owner. Privacy is a concern if there is no secure ownership transfer scheme to aid the transfer. After sales service and temporary tag delegation are also features commonly seen in such applications. In this paper, we proposed a new RFID ownership transfer scheme that achieves the most security protecti...

Cryptanalysis and Enhancement of a Secure Group Ownership Transfer Protocol for RFID Tags

Ownership transfer and grouping proof protocols are the two most important requirements for RFID tag in various applications such as pharmaceutical distribution and manufacturing. In 2010, Zuo integrated these two requirements and introduced a protocol for RFID tag group ownership transfer (GOT), i.e., transferring the ownership of a group of tags in one session. However, this paper shows that ...
